I have been sitting on a 1963 class ring I dug on January 1, 2012. I thought how neat it would be to return to owner on the 50th anniversary of their graduation. Unfortunately the school merged with another Catholic high school back in the 1970's.I emailed the headmaster of the "new" school and asked for his help in locating the owner. The ring did have the owner's initials in it. In the headmaster's words, " He is on it" and will try to locate the owner. That was maybe 3 or 4 days ago. So today I go out to a hunted out park not far from where I dug the ring I'm trying to return. First signal I dig turns out to be a larger 10K 1956 Class ring from another closed Albany Catholic High School. I couldn't believe my eyes. This one also has owner's initials but they are well worn and hard to make out. I believe this school also merged into the same main school so I might have to ask the headmaster to locate this owner also !!! I find it hard to part with these rings but I think it is the right thing to do. I might contact the local newspaper and see if they would be interested in a little human interest story. You know, "ring lost for 50 years reunited with owner." I figure our hobby can use some positive press !!! The smaller ring with red stone is the one I'm currently trying to return. I also dug a Buffalo nickel and a silver war nickel today.

Nice going ED and hope that guy gets back to you with the owner of that first ring. What are the odds of finding another ring like your first one.:clapping: I returned a high school class ring back to a gal in 2005 who lives in Cottage Grove Oregon and she wore it to her 30th class reunion. What a great feeling to get a lost or stolen ring back to it's original owner. I also returned a 1980/81 Washington Huskies pack ten championship Rose Bowl ring to the owner and it was pretty neat to meet with him and give his ring back. Nice going Ed on both of your rings and HH.

Indeed good for the hobby and sometimes takes a bit to find the owner so good luck in finding owner. Having returned many articles both expensive and sentimental its a good feeling...still remember that fellow that dropped his keys in the snow as he didn't have an extra set so doesn't have to be
an expensive piece of jewelry to be a rewarding experience.
