Revolutionary War thing?

Stamped Co. D. Has 2 holes at the bottom, something hung from it. Anybody know anything about it. Found in central Jersey, we had British and colonial American troops in this area.
 
I would guess it is part of a medal, ribbon, or award.

hey jabbo, if that is a military medal the other half might be nearby where you found that half...... i found a 2 piece veteranum medal from 1881 last year in a backyard....
 
Booty, this was found many years ago. I don't remember if I checked the area for the other half.
