thanks Bud, I'm sure I will hear and earful on some those I made.. lol But just felt like I needed to say the obvious.. thanks for the read..

Good Job on the review. The E-Trac is the closest machine I have to compare to but it (CTX 3030 ) is not an E-Trac. The thing that I noticed first was the TID on deep targets was very stable. Trashy areas are actually fun to hunt with this machine and its capabilities of zeroing in on good targets. Have'nt had a chance to hit some of my better relic sites but I think the CTX will be fine. Congratulations on your finds and thanks for posting your review. HH :minelab:

thanks bud.. I agree totally..

Spot on review, GH. Thanks :detecting:

Thanks for the review. I have been procrastinating now for a month to buy one or wait. Having never run an Etrac or Explorer the number system is like a foreign language and probaby the number one reason the machine looks intimidating to learn. I would consider myself a dedicated detectorist, usually detecting every day, even work days I try and get down to the beach for a quick hunt. With spending so much time detecting, I do want a machine that helps me find as much as possible. I absolutely am sure it is a deeper machine then I currently run. I will be running it alot in freshwater and will give feedback once I get half a clue what I am doing...look for that feedback in about a year :lmfao: ...just kidding I hope

Lol well good luck with it.. I surf a lot of forums here and in Europe/Uk and this one, by far has more users that are getting great hands on experience as well as a great Tester, Mista Horton, who has went well over the top to help us with this detector and other ML's for that matter.. so you are definitely in the right place.. again good luck..

Great example of how someone who is willing to learn the new technology, and adjust it for their particular needs, can achieve great results in this hobby. Hopefully your success serves as an example to those who have not had the motivation that you've demonstrated! Thanks for "putting in the time" and sharing your experience. HH Randy

I appreciate it Randy... means a lot hearing that from the "Digger".. thanks bud..

Good reveiw and mine should be here Friday so I don't want to be negative,But you made mention of Bottle caps which I heard some say it is a problem and some on this very forum say it handles them well like the E-trac. I was wondering are you talking about steel bottle caps? How would you compare it to the E-trac as it was great at handling these. I don't mean to harp on this ,But a lot of my old sites have tons of these and I had a Detector once that love them and it was a pain so I got rid of it. In these same sites the E-trac had no problem at all. Thanks.

Hi Even - Nice review - you hit both plus and minus points and I like seeing both sides (not a magazine review!)

I liked this part amongst others:

The only thing is I have dug a bag full of trash on targets past the 8 inch level with the other detectors because not enough information is given to me solely on just the sound. Some say well you ain

Sure, the ones I have issues with are the newer ones that are smashed, but everyone of my machines have problems with them.. to be honest I was really trying to find an issue that I didn't like about the machine.. it was more being petty than anything.. I honestly don't have that many issues, 90% are "user" problems of not recognizing what the machine is telling me.. Hope that helps..

I'm sorry ,But I have to ask one more time are you talking steel bottle caps or aluminun screw caps as you said flattened. Thanks.

No problem. modern alluminum screw caps, not the old beer bottle caps the pop off.. if that helps..

Thanks that makes all the difference in the world to me as those I am use to. The steel bottle caps are the killer in my area. Thanks again.
