Reversing tones ( High tones = iron etc. )

What's up everyone? I been using the Deus for a coupe of years , been to Andy's class which was good thing because it was kicking my butt . Something that I struggle with is the sound , my hearing is shot from being in the Marines and getting worse because of work . It seems that I hear lower sounds much better then high sounds . While down loading 4.0 I got to thinking about making a program that the tones are reversed going with ferrous = high tone to non ferrous = low , has anyone done this or known anyone that tried tried it ? I made one program set up with the tones "backwards " and another identical with tones set up the " normal " way but haven't been able to get out because we had 20" snow storm a week or so ago and man it sucks . Thanks and good luck !

Semper Fi bro... I shot artillery in Nam for the Marines so I know what you are talking about. Luckily I got hearing aids from the VA a few years ago and they help a lot. so I would recommend getting hearing aids if you can. The high sounds are the 1st to go no matter what the reason. I too have thought about doing the reverse tones thing. There is no reason why it won't work. It would just take some time to learn the tones and their corresponding VDI's but it should work fine. Let us know if you do and how it goes.

I had 1 day to detect an iron laden camp that I know has buttons masked by iron. I figured I distinguish high tones from the lower iron tones than the medium. It worked great, found one Kepi button in that range and 25 22 shells.

Give it a try

Semper Fi Gene ! I was with 2nd Tracks out of Courthouse Bay , Camp Lejuine , thanks for the reply . I finally got out to try the " reversing of the tones" and have to say i maybe on to something. I'm hunting a place that I've personally have pounded and always has something cool to find from a 1700's French silver coin to newer jewelry but it's a tough place to hunt and things are deep . The ver.4 seems much cleaner then 3.2 . I played a bit in a program set up the normal way tones low to high after getting a feel for ver.4 I switched to my program set high to low with iron the high tone . I was really surprised at how well I could pick out the low tone quickly, I was using 4 tones . I'll post my settings when I get home . I kind of tough at first getting into the groove of wanting to dig low tones but after a bit I was hearing stuff that I know I didn't before. I ended up with 4 buttons ,1944 wheat and what think is a small coin ( didn't have a post on the back) which I haven't cleaned up yet . I still need to mess this idea but after this experiment it will be easier to do knowing that I really may be on to something . We just got snow and ice last night hopefully by tomorrow it'll be gone and I'll be able put this idea through the ringer . I'll let you know more .
