Reverse disc (of sorts) using prospecting mode

Has anyone tried using prospecting mode to locate targets, then flipped over to Coin/Treas in AM to see if the target comes up and if it doesn't you've got a deep target to dig? Its getting to where the deeper the better on known CW sites and it occurred to me this might be one way to get max depth out of the machine and actually be able to be certain its deep.

That is basically how I detect here in Oregon. The mineralization is so bad here that prospecting mode is the only way I can get good depth. Prospecting goes very deep even if I have to cut the sens back due to heavy trash. It's my favorite way to hunt. Whispers in Coin and Treasure with sens even up at 30 come in screaming on prospecting mode with only 16 sens.

Interesting guys.

What coil are you using when working this way ?

I use a 10.5" MF DD. I get good depth in prospecting mode with the stock concentric too, but it picks up the hot rocks more.

I haven't used the prospecting mode to locate targets but have used it to pinpoint which is extremely accurate with the 6"DD HF Coil. I will certainly try the trick that you mentioned.

Yes that is an old (switch over) trick that only works in very low trash enviroments, but it does works well. Not only for depth but for TID'ing also.
