I found out what the update consists of today.

R6 consists of

---adjusted battery display indicator levels for more accuracy

---sensitivity control in pinpoint

---added tone mode called dP

---added RAISE COIL message to 3b & dP mode

The added tone mode 'dP' is a new multi-tone method that gives a continuous range (this increases pitch with each increase in visual id number) for id rather than 3 or 4 tones modes. This puts nickels in natural order of tone progression. This tone mode uses the same algorithm to determine target id as the 3b mode. So a 56 ID will sound 'x'Hz and 57 ID will sound (x+y)Hz; lowest tone being 100Hz and highest being 1.2kHz

So in a nutshell, with the update, you will be able to adjust the your pinpoint sensitivity, and be able to select a new multi-tone mode that gives a different tone for each id number. Since it is based upon the same target sampling that the 3b mode uses, bottle caps may be easier to id, tone-wise, than just using the straight 3 or 4 tone modes. The lift coil message will appear for probable bottle cap id in the 3b and dp modes to help remind the user that raising the coil may make the bottle caps bounce more and thereby easier to id by sound or visual id.

In the dP mode, nickels are in the normal place in the conductivity scale, while you get to keep the nickel range high tone audio in modes 3, 3b, and 4.

All in all it sounds like a winner to me. Now just to find the cash to send it in. Looks like some clad cleaning time for me

Thanks ed, after reading alot of the posts I still wasn't sure. man I guess I was lucky mine came out with the 6.0 version it on it or it wouldn't have been done yet either. you keep counting that clad it probably won't be long before you have enough to get it done.......
seems like alot of the bottle cap problem was improved at least on the ones I've checked. but havn't had it in a real bad bottle cap area
to completely say how well it solved the problem. It seems like a lot better detector than what I was thinking it was. I like the lightweight, depth and several other features. kinda wish it would have saved the last setting before you shut it off as long as I'm wishing, but man there are things on every detector I would like to have. and thats not a big thing anyway.......
