Returned to the cabin site

Friday, I finally got the chance to return to the cabin site that I hunted last spring. In March, I found several keepers at this site, including a double cavity brass bullet mold and several Civil War era military buttons. This trip didn’t produce a lot of things, but a few worth keeping. Two utensil handles, both have maker marks. One is marked C.Parker the other I can’t quite make out the text. They are both made of gray metal and are relatively soft, so possibly pewter? Also, a piece of a suspender clip with a floral pattern, a iron harness buckle, a wedge for a wooden tool handle, a toe plate, and a brass circular item that I don’t know what is. The toe plate is in really good condition and has stamped in the front Pat. Nov 28 1858. This is the largest toe plate that I have found. It measures 2-11/16” wide. Possibly for a Brogan? I will return to this site with hopes of a coin or two and more buttons. HH

Hey C&R. Charles G. Parker was a pewter smith 1840-1880 and also did silverplate. I'm sure you've found oil
lamp pieces before but the round piece looks similar. Maybe not it looks kinda heavy in your pic. Great finds
for sure!! I concur that is a very large toe plate!

Thanks for that info about C. Parker. It is possible that is a collar that went on the glass part of a lamp and the mantel screwed into it. The dia. of the hole may be a bit small for that though. But that is the best idea so far.

Forgot to say Parker was in CT. The guy that wore the toe plate must have been a size 15EEE!!:yikes:
Again, nice finds.

Thanks Okie. I see you have a coal miner tag (from Parsons Kas?) as your avatar. I have one, from Parsons Kas 93, that I found in NW Missouri. It was a long way from home when it got lost.

Actually this tag was found on my grandma and grandpa's old homesite in Jenny Lind, ARK. Grandpa was a miner all his life.
Check out my post "not today's but." on page 4 of finds forum. Do you think that mine says Parsons on it? I could never
figure out what was on it. I looked up coal co. names and no luck. I don't think Pop was ever in Parsons but maybe it was a coal co.
name. My brother found one too that day but was a lot more plain just a stamped #. Thanks for mentioning this might need
to research again! Check my post sorta interesting.

Okierebel, Here is a link to some info on the tags and a picture of my tag. Wierd, the tag pictured in the info has the same number as mine. https://www.itthc.com/cgi-bin/bbs62x/webbbs_config.pl?md=read;id=382

Oh man, thanks so much for the link, C&R!! ITTHC is in Tulsa but I never thought to look on their site. Couldn't really
read my tag just assumed it was a coal co. name. My aunt is a geneaologist and has a book on Sebastian Co, (ARK)
coal mining but I couldn't find anything. This explains why mine and yours were found so far away.
We went to a family reunion in Ft. Smith in 2017. My aunt knows landowner where home site was, so the next day
we hunted it. As my brother and I were stumbling through the brush heading to it he said "you think we'll find
anything?". I said yeah I hope we can find a mining tag or something, you know, personal. Danged if we both didn't
find a tag! I also found 3 wheats, a compact, belt buckle and 1920 merc. Really do appreciate the helpful info!!
Hopefully I can return the favor! I just can't stand not knowing what I find sometimes.
Also got ate up w/chiggers that day but I survived.
