Return Hunt with GPS feature finds more...

Gonehunting

I went back to the relic spot I hunted and posted about the relic hunt with the GPS mapping feature. This time hit right in the middle of the big hole I left on the map... Well this will tell it better...

I found these about 10 yards from each other.. the one in better condition was at 9 inches.. The signal was quiet but repeated and was small.. When I scanned over it I just heard a blip so I stopped and went really slow over it and the signal cleared up.

Didn't realize it at the time, but these are two different types. Both appear to have the UNITED STATES**** backmarks

I also found an epaulet scale.. this is the 3 one from this area..Wish I could find the holder. The large lead on the left might be a smashed Enfield or a minnie but cant tell.. It is huge. Only had 2 hours so I am heading back to cover some other places missed in the circle..

Those buttons are very nice finds Evan and they are nothing like what I am familiar with in the Civil War ear. They may very well date back to the Revolution era.

Evan them are some killer finds the GPS feature is working great for ya

WOW! those are amazing finds for our part of the country. A big congrats Evan.

The forts were built in the 1830's and had activity from the 20's to the civil war..Most of the finds I make are the 1820's-1830's...

I am really loving the Gps Feature.. now that I have a couple of hunts and previous hunts with a stand alone Gps markers added.. you can see a definite cluster for several different area' s..

Evan, here is some information from the book "Uniform Buttons Of The United States 1776-1865". These seem to fit the description and pictures. Very nice finds, you have a really good site there. I agree about the GPS. I think as more people begin to use it, they will find what a very useful tool it can be.

WTG on the finds Congrats:twodetecting::minelab::thumbup:

Thank you sir.. I haven't seen the button with the crimped back before.. All the one's I have found there are just flat.. The soil in this one spot is really harsh and the buttons look not so good... There is one spot that has some sand there and the buttons look amazing.. just wished the whole site was like that..

here is the difference in about 30 yards.. this one was in the sandy soil found last year.. found at about the same depth..

Congrats on the finds i haven't tried the GPS feature yet but it looks like it will save allot of time by showing me where ive been HH:thumbup:

Too late. Evan has already covered the site with his CTX and a backhoe.
that thought has crossed my mind.. think more like a accidental fire and a runaway dozer..lol

That is the right era. I found a cuff button like that a few years ago in an area that had been "occupied" by the Dragoons around 1841. The Dragoons were lightly armed Cavalry soldiers who served as our first mounted infantry.

Nice Button Randy!! Military relics are by far my favorite...

I prefer those silver dollars you were finding. And, any gold coins you uncover! I love that gold and silver.

Yes I was a coinshooter for about the first 20 yrs I hunted then the historical part started interesting me more and more.. I still love finding coins, but if I have a choice over going on a relic hunt or coinshooting,,, relics wins every time

Me and FreakonaLesche are going tomorrow for at least a 7 or 8 hour hunt.. These last two were only 2 hour hunts so I can't wait to see what comes up...may try to take a camera but it is dense down there...
