I have had my bounty hunter tracker IV for 10 weeks and my pioneer 505 for 8 weeks now and even tho I am still green as spring grass at this "terrible addiction" I am starting to get an idea of what I am doing. Not just with the machines but other aspects like research and evaluating sites and methouds. sorry I havent got the hang of posting pictures yet but my tally for my debut into "dirt fishing" is: 501 clad coins, 73 quarters, 122 dimes, 30 nickels. 225 mem. pennies. 2 wheat pennies 1 canadian dime, 1 $10.00 peso mexican gold? piece, 1 argentine 10 centvos, sven assorted trade tokens, 1 siver ring,1 silver braclet, 1 .925 silver necklece pendent, several assorted junk jewlry pieces 7 junk jewelry rings, 4 hot wheels cars and a couple of ton of pull tab/ canslaw junk. odd finds have been a lot of grass pipes and related paraphnalia. My conclustion is, in spite the sore knees, sore back and cronic sore "swinging" muscle on top of my right shoulder, is "WHT OH WHY DID I HAVE TO WAIT SO LONG TO FIND THIS WONDERFUL OBBSESSION, ALL THOSE WASTED YEARS! I do have a qustion tho. When I try to use no motion all metal mode to pinpoint, my 505 goes off anywhere it touches the ground, not just close to the target. Since the machine is way smarter than I am what am I doing wrong? Ed in co.

Sounds like your 505 needs to be re-tuned...sounds like the Ground Balance on the machine is off...There are pots on the circuit board that need to be re-tuned...Unless your an electronics technician with the proper equipment, I do not suggest you try to do it yourself...Send it back to First Texas, without the rods...just the box and the coils, and they will probably do it for free...

HH,

Thanks for the answer, that could also explain occasional other erratic behavior. Ed in co.

Hey Ed,

That is quite a lot of digging that you have been doing. Good for you! Good finds also! This is really a good hobby/addiction that we have ain't it? When you go to all metal mode, do you hit the ground trac button also? Your ground maybe highly mineralized and that would also make the 505 in all metal mode sound off. Just a thought. Good luck to you and HH.

Capt. I tried hitting the ground trac button after switching to all metal on planted targets and it worked just fine to pinpoint. Problem solved, thanks. Ed in co.
