I was first told about it from Rick in TN then a guy e-mailed me from Jersey and was showed by a Minelab rep.Turn the unit on and then take the battery out you must wait at least one minute befor reinstalling but I waited three to make sure....Thats all he told me to do.

Rick;
I can't take credit for that. You and I were in a discussion about battery life and contact corrosion when someone else brought up the reset.
can't remember who it was though.
hope it takes care of the problems

Someone said that you were to do it while it was going through the setup mode before it was finally ready to detect? Does it matter one way or another? Thanks Mike

Mike;
Appearently yes.
When the explorer is going through the tones during the initial "boot" is when this must be done. once the "boot" is done and it reaches the detecting screen it doesn't have any effect.
