Ian, how heavy is the 12X15 vs. the 10X12? I have the 10X12 on order, but I'm very impressed with the 12X15 you're using.

Now that I do not know.

I do know, however, that the 15x12 is a little heavier than the Super 12. You have to take into consideration that it's almost like searching with 2- 15x6 coils. If the extra weight is going to find rare buttons for me, then I'm going to be using it.

In Part 2 of the test, you'll see it pull a Mississippi Infantry Button, a Large Cent, and a few bullets--- All in areas that we have hit time and time before!

Well, then if you don't mind my asking one more question. What decided you on that size instead of the 10X12?

Well, it actually wasn't up to me, but I am VERY happy I got what I got.

I do think the 10x12 is an awesome coil, too. Many members in the club I belong to(Metal Detecting Association of the Carolinas-MDAC) have been using this coil and have been getting great results. I feel that with the 15x12, you are definitely maximizing your detector's ability(MXT in my case) to get down to the relics that haven't been hit yet, the ability to separate between 2 targets, and spot-on pinpointing for a large coil!

The question about the weight differences, I'm going to see if I can get that information available. I've had many people ask that question and the best I could answer is that it weighs more than the super 12, but I don't know by how much...

I just put a 10X12 SEF on mine and man I'm dying to give it whirl in the yard tomorrow. Great balance and it air tested phenomal. I know air test doesn't mean much, but even it it lost 30% depth in the dirt, over the air, it would be well worth it. There are a couple of areas, here in N. Bama that were considered hunted out years ago, that I'm dying to try this coil on. Even if that 12X15 is only 10% deeper than the 10X12, I predict some fantastic finds in your future. Now I'm glad I didn't trade in or sell my MXT. I should be able to handle the weight for a couple more years.

The machine you are using is not a very deep machine out here in Calif the F75 beats it in depth hands down and then some. So if they made that coil for the Fisher it would be so deep it would be crazy deep.

Just goes to show, you need the right tool for the right job. Over in the East, the MXT performs well and is one of the preferred 'tools' used by experienced relic, coin and jewelry hunters. The soil is more favorable over here. But, I have seen many MXT users in the west pull some nice gold nuggets while some of the other machines have trouble prospecting.
