Rescued a Sidewinder today!!

I got this Sidewinder off a fellow on Craiglist and it was pretty dirty and the stickers look a little tattered but it functions great. I have already cleaned her up best I could and sprayed a coating of bed liner spray on the coils bottom. I love taking on little projects like this and seeing the labor of my love at the end. I will take some pics of the machine and let you guys see how she turns out. Shes definitely not a closet queen but I look at that as a positive thing it must be a good machine to have all these battle scars. I have always thought these Sidewinders were a awesome little machine, and I think she's going to be a keeper!

The Sidewinder looks like a diamond in the ruff, if it performs good, that's what counts.

It would make a good truck / backseat detector, no worries. I like it !

New decals and it would be cherry. The side ones are no problem, but for some reason, Tesoro won't sell the face decal, just install it as a repair. That means it's about $30 as I recall.

The days of them cheerfully "misreading" their lifetime warranty to mean the life of the detector instead of the life of the detector TO THE ORIGINAL PURCHASER are sadly over. Now it' stone letter of the law - as it rightfully should be. Perhaps they should go to the Garrett, Minelab and XP model - limited time but transferrable to subsequent owners.

I have a new ( to me) XP Deus, which I am the third owner of since it was sold new in August 2013. Never mind how it came about that this very nice detector has been a adopted out twice!! The 5 year warranty is fully transferrable, just need the original sales receipt (which I have).

Will look good in no time. Can never have too many detectors I reckon :). Looking forward to seeing the old girl after you have made her pretty.
Cheers!

that is in badd shape, but I had a golden umax worse that that and it still worked good ,

If you download the manual from Tesoro, you will see that it includes instructions on how to adjust the internal GB and Threshold trimmers. I mentioned this to Rusty Henry at Tesoro and he didn't believe me!

Nice detector, nice people at Tesoro. I shouldn't have sold mine but the $100 quick profit was too hard to pass up.

Yeah I figured I won't be worried bout scratching it while hunting with it. Lytle78 I will check that out I printed the manual off but haven't had a chance to read it yet. I'd like to eventually get one of those white 8" coils that came on the outlaw for it.

Well I took out the Sidewinder on it's maiden voyage and she's a awesome little machine. I set the disc at 5 and sensitivity at 10 and I found a bunch of clad, no gold or silver this hunt but I was only hunting tot lots if gold or silver was there I know she would have screamed on it. The only thing I don't like about it is this machine goes nuts when I use my Pro-pointer.
