these came from some piles of dirt that was moved away from the demo site I was hunting last week. There are at least sixty piles of dirt here so its like a needle in a haystack, I have a rough idea as to which piles are better than others but its a real crap shoot still . I sifted some dirt for a while and turned up a marble and tons of square nails and old glass debris, anyhow , We got a 1917 merc , a no date buff .....and a geezered wheat penny , and two other things I just knew were coins before I dug them , one is the small washer , they always sound sooooo good , and the nail it was stuck down and I knew it was a coin  .......

Good going Adam,

That nail and washer that sounded good should have as they are a copper rivet and washer for the old leather harness for horses. This just shows how small of items the Sovereign will see as that washer is small isn't it. It is a good thing I use a S1 probe to find them as they are small.
You mention a sifter which will work good in some soil. I have one made and never used it yet in the site I want to try, but heard it is off limits now and may be a historic site now. The sifter is about 24 inches long and 12 inches wide I would say and has 1/2 inch square screen netting on it so the coins will not drop though. If you want to use it you are welcome to use it as I haven't in the 2 years I have had it.

Nice Adam. I never had any luck searching piles of dirt from demo sites. But then that was before I got the SovGT.

thanks , yes the sov. sees real small stuff, I am amazed at the tiny things it will pick up, without an S1 probe that small stuff is all but impossible to find , you hear it but cant seem to find it, I think that is why so many have a problem with not finding the target after the hole is made,I see even smaller bits of broken nails and such that just make the threshold dissapear for a sec, it is amazing all the tiny bits of stuff in the ground . thanks I did make a sifter the other day and it is real effictive,But I can see where it wont work if the dirt has too many clumps, but the dirt I am in now is perfect for sifting, the one I have is 2 feet by two feet, a real simple one, I went with the 1/8 screen for this piticular dirt.I used an old antique hinge I dug for the one leg , it has one leg so it props up, and I rest the other side against the side of the dirt pile in question,I am happy with the preformance so far, I used stuff I had on the fram here so the wood is old and ratty looking but it gets the job done.........[attachment 37571 2.jpg][attachment 37572 3.jpg]

I know you got this week off , your welcome to come up and hit the demo and/or the piles with me the demo is getting way thin on anything ''diggable'' but they may start scraping the back half today or tomarrow and there is a lot of dirt movement everyday so it can happen ...... and the dirt piles well there are enough of them and they are big enough that if we went there we may not even see each other for an hour or more.....Try to make it if you want,I garuntee a silver ....even if I have to seed one in for ya ......

I think thats the dealers job. At least it should be.
Went to Lake Havasu to see me dear Ma and Pa. Just got back last night and vacation is almost gone already. We decided to go visit them on the spur of the moment. I took my detector but never had anytime to use it.
