request info: CZ-6/7 comparison.

Recently acquired a CZ-6A. Not too sure it was a great move. Comparing the all-metal mode depth to my CZ-7a pro, the pro is about 3 inches deeper. Should they be about the same in depth? Also the audio loudness is different. At max volume the 6's seems maybe loud enough and where it doesn't hurt the ears, but the 7's is unbearably loud and must be turned down. Should the 6's be a lot louder than it is, where at max volume it hurts the ears too? Thank You

Vernt,

I cannot run my 6a at max volume...it is too loud. And forget pin pointing at max...it blows my ears off. But, I am using Black Widow headphones and can adjust them as well. Not sure what head phones you are using, and is it possible that the Pro may have a different output impedance ( I don't know if I am saying that right ) ?

I don't think the 6a is 3 inches shallower than the Pro. Is this only in the all metal mode...what about the discrim mode. I have read that some people have Cz's that are deeper in discrim than all metal. I have never compared mine in all metal vs discrim. I do know my 6a goes really deep and I cannot use it past the sensitivity setting of 4-5 without falsing or really slow movement of the coil. If I go super slow and raise the sensitivity to 6 or 7 and deal with the falsing, I end up digging really deep iron sometimes but also really deep silver.

Thanks for your response. It appears my new acquisition is not performing at its optimum. Now its going to cost me more to get it tuned . I swear to the Almighty, this is the last time I but another used detector. This is the second consecutive time I've been hosed!

Hello Vern,

I can see how you are disappointed over purchase of a used machine sans warranty.

In my opinion, people pay far too much for them.

You might wish to send it to Keith Wills @ Brokendetector.com.

He is highly recommended.

If you do not wish to spring for repair, I might be interested in buying it... Send me a PM.

Good luck

I hear ya Vernt...that's a tough pill to swallow. Rich has a good idea in trying to contact Keith. Not sure how much it would cost, but it may be cheaper than Fisher.
