Request and question for Nokta Company

D&P-OR

Well-known member
Please implement a 5 year transferable warranty on your detectors.----Has any thought been given to that in that regard?

They would need to increase the cost of the unit by a few hundred dollars. One thing I wish is that they can offer an extended warranty for those who wish to extend.

 Del, there ya go again being all high maintenance and such. If you would get away from those First Texas made things................you wouldn't need a 5 year warranty. Tell ya what, when ya get back to Oregon, I'll bring over some Nokta/Macro Koolaide and we will sip it together. We'll get ya converted yet. :clapping:

Yeah Gregg---You'll THINK Makro Koolaide when that Racer breaks down on you (especially after the short two yrs.).------Man, they don't even have a service center for them (Makro products) in the U.S. at this time.------Now Nokta---yeah, Kellyco will "fix them".:)------Sorry to ruin your day my friend!----Ya better whip up a fresh batch of kool aide & come on over---I'll try to get you settled back down!:crylol:;)

Well Del its not a perfect world out there, but I think the two Warranty is plenty. If a machine is going to fail, it will usually do it fairly soon. If anything I wish companies did it like Whites, no hassle two year warranty. None of this "you have to have the receipt" nonsense. Once a machine is bought the serial number recorded, it gets two years of warranty from that date and doesn't matter who owns the machine throughout that period.

At least Nokta/Makro doesn't insist you be the original owner. What good is a warranty if you have to be original owner all 5 years. Makes buying a used First Texas machine tough.....of course, First Texas can bilk you out of some more money if you want to transfer it. No thanks.

That would only be true if the products had a 2-3 year life cycle, and the manufacturer had low confidence in their products. Both indicators of low quality.

Some good questions here.

How is Kellyco doing handling repairs and warranty work for the Australian metal detector company? (I hear they are backed up a few months, but I've not had to send in anything for repair, so that is just hearsay. Does
anybody have first hand experience?)

Is Kellyco "Repair" staffed to take on the additional work that will come in for Nokta products? It isn't just warranty repairs and replacement, equipment accidents happen while out in the field as well.

Where is the repair and warranty work for Makro being handled? Is it here in the United States?

With the merging of these two sister companies (Makro / Nokta), will there be a consolidation of dealers and a centralized North American repair location?

Low quality like a US/Chinese made unit?

I prefer the 2yr transferable warranty & to deal with the manufacturer directly because unlike Fisher, in many cases the faulty/broken part does not have to be shipped back to the factory (at your cost) before replacement is sent out -

Unmatched customer service -

what happens if you dont buy from Kellco and another dealer? do they go back to kellco, will they take them if not bought from them?

If you buy a Nokta from Europe instead of Kellyco or one of their dealers, the warranty may not be good. In the past, for example, if a US dealer sold a Fisher/Teknetics to someone in Europe, the warranty wasn't good there. It is done to discourage buyers from going outside of the distributor's country.
