Replacing locking nut on fisher shafts

crepitis

New member
Hi, I have been looking to try and pick up a used Fisher detector, but a couple of those I have looked at on E-Bay have stated that the locking nut between the upper and lower parts of the shaft is either missing or broken.
Has anyone had any experience of replacing or repairing these locking nuts/rings and if so was it a send back to factory job, or done at home with a replacement part?

Thanks, Bob.

Call Fisher and they should be able to send you one...All it will take is some glue to glue the top part on. Pretty tough to explain and try it before you glue to see it tightens properly before glueing.
Very simple at best and have changed several over the years as they do crack now and then as they are under pressure...Vey simple procedure and use the other side of the rods locknut as a guide. Certainly not a biggie and no need to send in...as you will see when you receive the replacement one...

Thanks guys, I wanted to find out before commiting myself to a purchase, just in case it wasnt an easy part to replace, but I think youve put my mind at rest and I will go and make a bid!

Thanks, Bob.
