Replace stock E-Trac coil with 15x12 SEF Coil?

Hi folks, I've used the search here in the forums and on Google and am just curious if any of you have replaced your stock E-Trac coil with the one 15x12 SEF Coil that Kellyco sells? Is it waterproof, did you notice any improvement, was it worth it?

Also, can that same coil be used on the GPX-4500 PI machines?

Thanks all
Jennifer

I don't know about the E-trac.. But the 10x12 is killer on the Explorer!! Awesome depth! and AMAZING separation,,, It also pin points a lot better than the pro coil!!! I heard the 12x15 in no different!!! I am thinking of picking one of those up as well! And no,, It wont work on your GPX,, only for White's DFX/MXT/M6 and Minelab E-Trac/Safari/Explorer/ Quattro/Sovereign. I would recommend picking one up!!!! Well good luck!!!

I have the 12x15 SEF and love it. Not for trashy areas but beach and relic hunting it is great. Dug some of the deepest targets I have ever found with it and the E-Track
If you have open areas with light trash go for it.

I have one of those 15x12 coils and used it one time so far before our ground froze up on us. This area had been worked for the last 30 years so much of the trash was gone and targets can be far and few. I felt it did a good job for me in this type of area and depth was good, but was very heavy compared to the Pro coil. I dont feel it would be a coil I would use all the time and one I would use for some area like the beach or some farm fields were you need the coverage and not real trashy.
The coils for the E-Trac are the same as the ones for the Explorers and the Quattros/Safari and will only work on those machines not on any other detector, the same is for any other coils like for the Sovereigns or any other Minelab detector will not work on the E-Trac,Explorer, or the Quattro/Safari.

Thank you all for your posts.. it sounds from your posts (and others that I've read) that it's very similar to the stock coil that comes with the E-Trac and my money might be better used on a new Platypus for my GPX-4500.

Thanks all

You are absolutely right. I've been doing tests on mine, vs the pro coil, which is a very good coil in its own right, and in my testing the SEF 12x10 clearly separates even better than the pro coil which I already thought was good for a bigger coil size. When you hit silver it really rings out even near a rusty nail in my testing, better than the pro coil. You have to hit the "sweet spot" in the center, but when you do, even if a rusty nail is an inch away, you will hear that silver sing.

So in my testing, it's a winner. Your milage may vary, but I have no regrets about buying it.

I have had my 10x12 SEF for about a month and really do like it compared to my stock EX II coil. (lighter, more steady, better target seperation and looks cool too.) I also use a 14in Excellorator coil and like it alot also but would love to here anyones comparisons of it against the 15 in SEF to see if there is much diff. I have found items way deep with the 14 In coil and suprised myself and others with how deep it gets results. It is light and steady also. But I am considering trying the !5 in SEF in one spot that requires DEEP SEA FISHIN.
