Repair Question

I have a Whites Spectrum that has been sitting in my basement since around 2001 when I fried it by giving it a dip in Lake Huron. Does everybody here send their machines to be repaired to Oregon or is the service center in Illinois just as fair and good? Thinking about repairing it and selling it or trying it again.

I just sent mine to whites for repair on dec 2, they repaired it and sent it back to me in 5 days..WOW!!!!
bad coil, bad power switch , loose connection inside the machine,,
Then recalibrated and fine tuned it ..What more can you ask for???

That was at the factory in ore. Tony in Illinois is also superb at repairs,I have dealt with him before...H.H. John...................

Tony is a great guy that I have also dealt with in the past...I would send to the closer center or the one that can do the repairs quickest if your not under the white stuff (snow)...

HH,

[size=large]the real surprize is sending in a machine way out of warranty and they fix and return with no cost. not expected nor should it be but what a surprize when it happens.

As good as the regional service centers are, I find the factory tends to be more generous in it's dealings with customers. Where the service center might repair the main board, the factory usually simply replaces the entire board with a new one.

Gotta go with A4WDGuy........the factory is more generous. I think they do more for less money..IMHO. Ask for Todd........he is the best. Really super nice/competent guy. Always has taken great care of me & my White's.

Called them today. The factory has a MAX rate of 140.00. I sure can't argue with that!! And that is INCLUDING shipping back. They told me the repair center in the midwest can charge more. Not taking that chance. I never got to appriciate this machine though. I bought it and sold my Eagle SL2 because this machine had a backlight. BUT, The SL 2 was the deepest machine I have ever owned. And agian, that might be in part because I learned to read what the beeps were telling me.

Thanks. I might sell this machine after its repaired. But I also might give it a second chance. LOL that chance won't be in any lake!!!

Hi Scuba, I know what you mean about the Sl 11. I sold mine and just could not do with out one, so i bough another and sent it to Whites to make sure it was up to par, i will have it as long as i detect. I have been up past my elbow digging a gold heart with 63 diamonds. Just wish it was not so heavy. Hope you can find you another one and keep it. Dean

Whites has the best service! I've sent my detector back before to Sweet home Oregon. Todd Marshall heads up the repair department there. They treat you as a VIP great service fast turn around time and yes don't be surprised if they don't charge you a dime!
