If anyone has dealt with a company that gave poor or slow repair service, I'd suggest dropping their detectors like a rock. There's too many manufacturer's out there that work hard to earn our business.
First Texas did a wonderful job repairing my F5.
It was an unusual problem, Dave Johnson got involved personally and my detector came back working better than it ever did.
They also went the extra mile to fix something I hadn't sent it in for - replacing my foam hand grip.
Felix in customer service was also great to deal with and very helpful in getting my detector fixed.
Good customer service is, of course, good for business. When I finally broke down and decided to drop the big $ on the F75 LTD, a big factor swaying my decision was knowing I could count on FT's repair service for five years of no charge repairs when I have a problem.
Notice I said "when" and not "if". I try to take reasonably good care of my equipment. But take sensitive electronic equipment and add heat, cold, dirt, mud, rain, snow, etc. and no matter how well designed or built, sooner or later that detector is going to need repair.
I've also had outstanding repair service multiple times in the past from both Tesoro and Garrett, two more companies that put customer service first.
