Renaming& Saving a new program

Hello guys;
I made some changes in the Coin program on my V3 and renamed & saved it with no problem using the instructions on page 30 under rename an existing program.
But after I made changes to the Common program and tried to rename it, it wouldnt rename.
I feel like Im missing something that Im not doing.
Should I save the Common program first then rename or rename first and then save?
I,ve tried 7 or 8 times but will not rename.
Could it be you cant rename the Common program?
If any of you know what I should do please help.

I'll just repost what Jeff said in the other forum as he put more detail in it. But, you cannot rename common - you can copy and rename the copy though.

I,ll just do what you said and copy the common program I have changed then rename the copy.

Jim the explanation for the common program is correct, what you didn't explain is why you would want to rename the common program. Let me know. I think there is probably an easier way to do what you are trying to accomplish. Rob

I reprogramed Common with certain settings that I wanted to try, as the book says Common is for inside the house practice program or for Dealers to use so why not change it? I Knew I would not be detecting with the Default version of Common.
I already had made changes to the Coin Program and also the C/J Program that I hadnt made copies of and knew anything I change in any program can be restored to factory settings .
It was mentioned here what would happen if all the programs would be erased? They cant be, The default programs cannot be erased and are stored in the library and can be restored if a person wanted them.
What I did was made a copy of the reprogrammed Common that I made, then renamed it,then restored Common back to its original settings.
I really like this forum, alot of times me or someone will over look something in the manuel and there is somebody here to help with problems.Also its good to see how other detectorist are setting there V3,s up and what they are finding.
Its a good place to learn about the V3 and different ways to set it up

The only reason I asked Jim is I find it easier to pick a program from the list that is closest to what I want, make my changes, rename it, save it, and restore the original program. The common is farther from my needed settings and needs the most changes. Rob
