Remote tuns off by its self

After about 5 hours into my last three hunts the remote controller turns off by its self. I wondering if anyone else has had this problem?

If you're topping off your batteries when you get back from a hunt and then again right before your hunt, and the problem continues, then it's probably time to contact XP. I did read once (don't remember where), that if there's no interaction with the remote for several hours (I thought I read 3 hours), the remote will shut off. I can't confirm this--I'll try to find the reference and post details if I find it. Good luck!

I charge all the components the night before the hunt, normally for about 3 hours if needed or less if they are charged. So I charge the units about 8 hours before I hunt. The remote turns off by itself 5 hours into the hunt. My hunting partner also has a Deus and his does not do it after the same amount of time and he charges the night before.

Doesn't sound normal. contact Detector Electronics (US authorized service).
They will help you fast. If your warranty is new, wait till the off season to send it in unless you don't mind being without your detector for a week or two.
But contact them now, there might be a fix like reinstalling the software.

Will reinstalling the software erase what I already have installed?

Yes, it will erase your custom programs that you've saved. So everyone always recommends writing down the programs you love before you do any SW updates!

If you don't touch any button on the remote for 5 or 5 1/2 hrs, it's programed to shut off by its self. Happens to me once in a while since I set it and forget it and carry it in my pocket. NOW if your operating it during that time and it shuts off, you do have a problem.
