Relics and native gold at same site?

Anyone else know of sites where Civil War relics and native gold can be found at the same location? I know of a ouple of sites in Virginia.

Sorry if this is a little off topic but I read this forum a lot as I am contemplating getting a T2 and you guys are great!

The Black Hills Gold Rush was right on the heels of the Civil War. I know that many former soldiers from both sides came here to prospect. Plus there were many troops in the area protecting the miners.

You'd have to think some soldier/miner lost or discarded a military item or two. I've never run across anything yet. Back in the 60's, my wife and her folks were allowed by Fort Robinson's curator to hunt some fields at that Nebraska military outpost, and they found many items there.

Custer's march through the Hills left at least one buried cache behind and there's a couple tales about lost gold coins that were meant to pay the troops.

One site I know of in Virginia was a producing gold mine during the CW and there are trenches going around it. I was there hunting for gold and wasn't into relic hunting at that time but still found a cannon ball piece in the top edge of the trench. I understand the union and confederates swaped possession of it several times.
