Today I found my very 1st clue as to who has been hunting this large woods, I got a signal that sounded like a 22 shell but not just like one well up came an old bird tag and on it was stamped BRADFORD SPORTSMANS CLUB CAMBRIDGE MN and a number 262 this was on a bird that i figure the club released and then shot the slug where also found in the Imediate earea this is an old club but the tag is aluminum so must be 40s to ?

That's a good find. I've dug a few bird bands in the past. Sometimes they have a phone number on them and a ID number so you can call and find out when the bird was tagged and where.

That is a cool bird tag Gunnar!

I am working on talking to a guy sho is the president of this club , the club is ben around a long time i will have to update my learnings thanks for the info critt, and jim

Gunnar, I just unearthed a political coin that was aluminum...dated to 1910-1911 (election year of candidate).
Your bird tag could be older than you think.

ism that early for aluminum , I talked to one of they guys in that club and he said it was in the early 50,s maybe 40s that they raised a buch of birds and realesed them for hunting and he said they went far and wide, I rebucked him for not losing some siver coins for me back then YOU know the funny thing is this stuff was not deep most being under 3" deep can you Imagin that my thinking is the tree rots keep puching the stuff to the surface. yet in the farm field its common to find things 0 to 12" deep i suppose because the plowing was done at 12"
