just got an ex II for christmas. have been out using the factory settings finding some coins an some good relics. my main interest is in relic hunting but would also like to be able to not pass up any coins either. does anyone have a good program in which they would like to share. i tried experimenting with the settings and came up with this just before my accident. i tore my right hamstring 1 feb, am getting better and have been able to get out an about a little bit and am chomping at the bit to do some diggin. here's what i have it set on now.
select-clear,options-advanced,volume-gain 6,tone-variable 10/limits 10, sounds-ferrous, response-normal,recovery-fast and deep,sensitivity 18, threshold-0 any suggestions??

This is one I have a lot of luck with. You might give it a try. Please understand that I use Ferrous and almost never use Conductive tones. The primary reason is iron and silver both give a high conductive reading so I think Ferrous content is a better indication of the target. Most people as far as I can tell use conductive tones. This program works with Ferrous or Conductive so it really does not matter that much. This will give great depth on relics so it is not uncommon to go over a 1 1/2 feet on a piece of relic the size of a soda can. Don't give up thinking there is nothing down there! I have found larger pieces at over two feet.
