relic mode

I see where some peoplep say they use relic mode. Do you dig the positive VDI numbers or dig by sound. any info would help clear this up? I am interested in trying to learn the different ways you can utilize the MXT as I think it is the best.
 
Here' my settings.
Relic mode
Gain at +2 or higher
0 disc.
slight hum on thershold
TRIGGER FORWARD
GO SLOW and listen for the short,soft, solid repeatable sounds.(DEEEP targets)
FORGET looking at the screen or VDI #'s.
These are my settings, everyone has a different set up.
