Relic mode for coin shooting???

Been using my MXT for 3 years now and love it. My brother just bought the M6 and I got to try it out for a bit...what an incredible machine, the tone id is awesome! I am mainly a coinshooter and have been mainly using the coin mode. Does anyone here use the relic mode for coin shooting and why? Thanks for the info...Matt

I like having more than a single frequency tone on signals plus it gets better depth and normally the Relic mode operates a lot smoother than the Coin/Jewelry mode in my ground conditions.

I like the 2 different tones it has as I can sweep the coil faster and listen for those high tone of coins set higher then the disc is set at, plus I get to hear targets that is set lower then the disc beside a good target with the low tones. You have to use the VDI numbers and not the icons for Iding, but once you know the numbers you want it is easy to use. I find I get more depth a better ID in the relic mode myself and easier to understand the targets as I don't have to look at the meter to ID as often as the coin and jewelery mode.

I agree with Rick. I'll switch between C&J for relief of monotony, but I prefer the dual tones of Relic hunting. I'm using the Excelerator 5" coil, and find it to be VERY good at id'ing and pinpointing between trash objects. And because our Louisiana soil is nearly always above 50 and usually about 80, the CC coil works very well for depth. I'm learning that the target is usually shallower than the depth meter, probably due to the high soil reading.

Set the dis at just below Zinc penny Relic Mode, gain Maxed out, if you can. Dig the high tones that don't give you a ID number or anything on the screen and pinpoint deep or that won't even pinpoint.. You gonna like it. Oh BTW went hunting today no snow down here in S.W. Louisiana. :bouncy: Later Bud, Jerry aka Tinfoil

Snow that is. It is less then normal and we really didn't have any before Christmas, but since then we are getting a little. I just wish I could send you the cold as it sounds like this weekend the highest it will get is 10 below zero, I hate to see what the coldest will be.Maybe it is just as good as I can get out to detect as I am still not doing too great health wise since the 3 stents in my heart and need to rest more so I will be ready in the spring.
On the MXT my wife and myself have dug many signals that are deep and will not ID and have been impressed at this detector. My wife got a 1841 seated dime that way at a old farm site with the 6X10 coil, so now she has beat my oldest ever dime which was a 1842.
