This Item was found at a homestead which also contained coins ranging in dates from the 1780's to the early 20th century. Also found were blacksmith tools. Any Ideas??
 
Interesting piece but I have no idea. There appears to have been another attached piece looking at the small holes. Could be a type of leather "stay" to allow a bridge so that a strap or belt could pass under it easily. Just a wild guess. GH, David@Dixie
