I got out a couple of times last year to do some relic hunting and that was pretty easy digging since I was hunting in a plowed field that is turned over every year, but this year I hunted in undisturbed ground in the same area and boy what a change in conditions and what a difference that makes. Everything was 12 to 14 inches deep laying there for 150 years. I'm sure glad I had my Lesche Raven to get through the hard clay ground. The White's V3i was running at about maximum depth for my ground and some of the smaller targets were a whisper while the larger Minnie balls were still hitting pretty hard. This is my collection of relics from the the fields of Illinois that is not often thought of as a Civil War State. The modern plate is just eye candy for the display but everything else was found with my trusty V3i. This is my updated display.
