Relic Hunting with a White's PRL-1

I have a recently-aquired PRL-1 that is in new condition. I was wondering if anybody has used this model for relics. I know that it's not designed for relics, but with the 9.5" coil and the 8-AA battery pack, what kind of performance could be expected in decent soil conditions? I wonder how it will compare to some of the other 'TID-less" machines in performance.....like say, a Tesoro Silver or Compadre? Thanks, Folks.

[size=large]The PRL-1 is a simplified Classic. It provides the option to adjust the Ground Balance (via the hole under the US flag to access the GB trimmer), and has variable discrimination and an All Metal search or pinpoint mode.

Different from the simple Classic I and Classic II models, it shares the same 'Blue max' series of coils as used with the Classic III SL, ID, IDX Pro, XL Pro, XLT, etc. I would easily take it to a Tesoro Silver

Thanks, Monte! I couldn't have asked for a better, more informative response. I plan on using it for relics, after reading your reply. I like the weight of the machine, compared to some of the heavier models. Plus, I'm used to machines that don't always have a visual reference meter. Should get 'decent" depth? Thanks again!
