relic hunting settings for a tesoro cibola and is the high tone necessary

My opinion is set the discriminator at minimum. If you find you are digging a lot of small iron pieces that you do not want to dig, move the discriminator up just enough to knock out the small pieces of iron.

The high tone versus low tone is a personal preference. Standard low tone is just fine unless your hearing is not good at that frequency or you really like a higher pitch tone to listen too. I keep saying I'm thinking about having my Cibola turned into a high tone just to see what it sounds like, but it does just fine as it is. When I am not running the Tejon in VCO mode, I run the pitch of the Tejon higher than where the Cibola is, just because the Tejon can be adjusted. Even that has not pushed me to make the Cibola a high tone.
Cheers,

As tvr said, the tone is about personal preference. Some people's hearing might allow them to hear the higher tone more clearly. My Cibola has the high tone and I prefer it over a friend's standard tone. Don't know if this makes sense, but the high tone has more of a "bell-like" sound to it (even though it doesn't actually sound like a bell!) - it's a very clear, attention-grabbing sound and I find the quieter hits to stand out more in the middle-upper range of my hearing.

The settings really depend on the type of site you are hunting. If the site/area has already been pounded, I'd spend a lot of time in vco/AM checking for deep and tiny items with tight overlaps and griding, also rub the coil on the ground. To maximize you chance of finding non-ferrous targets, the tight overlaps are essential.

Ditto the rest.

The high tone is better if your hearing isn't the best. Otherwise, you're fine.
