Relic hunting machine

Hi
My name is Mark Moore and I am 2 weeks in to my relic hunting career. I live in McNairy Co. Tn about 8 miles from Shiloh in the Michie community. Never really cared much about relic hunting until now (age 34). A friend of mine loaned me his Fisher 1266X and I found a good drop Bullet(69 cal 2 ring Hessian) and bayonet piece the first day by my dads house. I am in the market for a metal detector and dont know what to buy. I would like one with a better descrimator than the Fisher 1266x, chirps constantly and is driving me crazy. Dont want to spend a bundle, but I want to upgrade from the 1266X. What do you suggest???
I am including a picture or the bullet.
Thanks
Mark

Mark,
I to am pretty new but I have tried several detectors over the last few months whites mxt, minelab Quattro and I just can't find one that I like better than my Fisher CZ-5 Simple to use three tones a good meter and the depth was better than the MXT and the Quattro. The quattro made noise that drove me crazy the mxt was all over the place. I just can't find anything better than the fisher. They don't make the CZ-5 any longer but you can find one used at a good price or I have heard that the CZ-3d is great also. If you ever get down to Kennesaw give a yell and we can hunt some of my spots down here.

My vote is for the CZ-70. Killer relic machine, killer deep silver machine, killer beach machine. It's a true multi-purpose machine. Add in the weatherproof feature and the lifetime warranty and it's a no-brainer.

I would look into the Nautilus line of detectors. Either the Nautilus DMC 2ba or 2b. Both are proven detectors for civil war artifacts and extremely deep seeking. For about 550 you cant beat it. If you have a bit more to spend look into the minelab explorer series. They are super nice also.
I have used a 1266x for a long time, and its a good machine also but the snap crackle and pop it makes can be annoying. But in good clean soil here in VA where its not trashy and where the soil is real sandy it will be as good as any other detector.
Thank you,
Joe Reb

Thanks guys for your help. Hope to see some of you at the Shiloh hunt in May, will be my first. Cant wait!!
Thanks
Mark

There are several excellent Relic detectors on the market: Troy X5; Minelab Sovereign GT (new), Advantage; Tesoro Tejon or Vaquero just to name a few. Good bullet, congrats, David @ Dixie
