Relic Hunters: For those of you cant afford a new AT Pro...Consider the GTI 2500 with the NEW DD 11"x8.5" Coil!....

I've been testing my GTI 2500 with the new DD coil and it gets equal depth as the 12.5" Imaging coil....in AIR TEST.......The new 11x8.5 "DD coil beats the pants off the 12.5" coil in the hot dirt!

For Relic Hunters: If you cant afford a new machine like the AT Pro...and you have a GTI 2500, then from my recent test this will make the 2500 a deadly Relic hunting machine.

If your ground you hunt is 60% hot and above then this new DD far surpasses the 12.5" coil for depth as the 12.5" is so noisy in hot ground you have to turn the sensitivity down to where it gets the depth of the stock 9.5" coil or much worse, especially in ground 80% hot +.

The only rub is NO IMAGING! Oh well, cant win 'em all. But you get 4 segments or iron discrimination, which I think some people forgot about!

If ya need to save some money....try the new DD coil on your 2500 or 1500. 1350 users should still get Profiling.

My GTI 2500 is now a very nice Relic machine with the new DD coil because the ground here in Oregon is 90% hotness! And should be a good prospector also, (have not tried it yet on that).

Wish I was back in Georgia now to give my 2500 a try in the Civil War zones.

Good tip bud. And don't forget the 350 as a relic getter. These DD coils turn all tectors into goodie getters. How ya been doing with your nuggie hunting and how is your weather down there. Hope it ain't stormy like here.

weather has been pretty nice actually..like near 60's for couple weeks now. MId 50's average and sunny. havent nugget hunted in a while now. I've been working on getting a tromel setup on some private property (115 acres) all with gold.
My mining partner has a 12 foot tromel and were gonna see how it goes. Last big operation there got 200 oz in one summer but they had a bit larger equipment (wash plant). I'll keep ya posted.

I've done the same thing. My 2500 now has the new DD coil. The problem with me is I still have 2 feet of snow on the ground in upstate NY. I'll be watching your posts!!!!

How much more depth would you say you get on coins compared to the 9.5" concentric imaging loop. I know the DD's are different than concentrics as far as the way the signal gets into the ground. My soil is maybe 6" - 7" max depth on dimes with the stock coil. Does the depth reading stay accurate with pinpointing or is it off a bit?

Thanks

Jim

Hi Jim...well on average it was 2-3 inches more depth. Which is the same for the 12.5" coil compared to the stocker. it can be more or less depending on how hot your ground is. 7" not to bad with the stock coil. If you get it at 9" in air test...you have to subtract about 25-30% for in ground resuts. All VLF detectors are like that.

You can ADD about 20-25% in ground depth from air test for Pulse Induction detectors.

Hey thanks a lot for this topic, I ordered a 11x8.5 and it should be here Monday. I wasn't sure what I could expect, but sounds like I made the right decision. I look forward to hearing more from you bearkat.

You may want to consider a coil cover for that . You'll see what I mean when you get the DD coil. The bottom of the coil is epoxy filled with plastic exposed. Doesn't look to me its very well protected from ground scuffing . Another foot of snow here, metal detecting on hold .

Yes I think I'll get a coil cover for it...
