Relationship RX GAIN and Discrimination

Hello, friends I want detailed explanations on the relationship RX GAIN and discrimination. How they interact with each other.
The Spectra has a probe function, which displays the available power to the plate, the Noise, and the RX gain recommended.

I believe the RX gain is your main control to offest EMI interference. The Disc. is the depth contol. Not sure they are connected in any way. That's my understanding of how Jimmie Sierra explained it. Set the RX as high as you can and not get any inereference, anc set the disc as high as you can without getting too much chatter or falsing. That's how i use it. You experts out there can feel free to chime in and correct me, if I'm wrong. I want to use it properly, as well.

keep on diggin'
