Another embarrassment from the do I still live in the USA file. I decided the best way to occupy my "free" time this winter would be to get another part time job. I was approached by one of the tellers at my local bank who said there was a part time position at their bank for a floating teller. I always wanted to work at a bank so I figured what the heck. The application process was all online which I completed and when it came to the box marked language I selected English which was to my surprise last on the list of about 9 languages. Spanish was of course first. This morning I got a phone call from a recruiter who said they were interested in interviewing me and that she had one or two questions to ask. The first was of course how much Spanish could I speak and write. I responded, "None at all. Why do you ask?" She told me that it was a requirement for the job. I told her I looked over the qualifications pretty closely and that it said nothing about being bi-lingual. It was the last item listed in ideal qualifications. I have an interview but not much hope after that.
By the way. I bank at with this company and I go to this branch at least 5 times a week. There isn't one full time teller in the place that speaks a second language. I guess my hopes of a job with the DMV providing licenses to undocumented aliens is out of the question.
Bitch, bitch bitch......... I know. Getting grumpy after only 16 days with no MDing. Watch out in January.
