We have had some good waves/incoming storms past month that might of stirred something up, but not many people in the water yet. If they are its only knee deep.
Hit the low tide in the morning> Sunrise....the trough, between the beach and the sandbar, is where most people get wet since it's too cold to swim. If you don't get much there, you might as well take advantage of the low tide and try the low tide mark and the sandbar. Look for the crusty coins, lead sinkers and tabs ....Good Luck

Check out Clearwater and St. Pete both are not far from you. I have done well from John's Pass to Clearwater after spring break. Good luck. HH :minelab:

hunted reddington shores 18400 gulf blvd for 4 weeks last summer found nothing of value, very disapointed. useing a sand shark
wast deep , wet sand , dry sand .i am a land lauber se explores for many years.haven't eigured florida hunting as of yet will give it another try this summer

Was at St Pete's beach today for an hour but tide was high along with the wind, so I was hunting on dry sand . Dug a piece of amber jewelry that has a silver mount.
Nice low tides this week on the Gulf Beaches and I would take bobs advise and look at the tide times and hit the low tides.

John in 2012 a summer hurricane took out the beaches in this area and they were repaired by pumping in sand from off shore so this is the reason for the lack of targets as they are buried deep with off shore sand. On the plus side not as much trash and the possibility some good targets were pumped in along with the sand. I am finding very little here in Indian shores though I did pull out a 50 caliber bullet that has a some age but I am doing the low and slow technique and it was down over a foot .
Less beach traffic at Reddington so if you head up to the very busy Clearwater Beach you will be more successful.

More beach pumping is coming this summer, starting in May Treasure Island, parts of St.pete Bch.......Upham and Pass-a-grille
Treasure Island.....Beginning in May, beachgoers may have to dodge pipes pumping sand on Sunset Beach and Sunshine Beach but the payoff will be a renourished shoreline. For the first time since 2010, the city's north and south beaches, which have been eroding naturally

They are pumping sand on Cortez beach as of last Sunday. Nice beaches bring in the people like me and thousands more and they know it is worth the investment.

I have since talked to a few that are familiar to the area and they also that the beach has been replenished.

If you have not read Gary t. Draytons book on the Excalibur you should as it will get you up to speed on all the settings. He is from south Florida and judging from his book on the Sovereign the Excalibur book should help you understand you new detector.

There are several of us that hunt here year round all most every day. quite a crew in CWB during peak its hunted day and night by some good hunters. But.... we never get it all... just to much to cover. Dont discount hunting the trash line nearer shore. The tides are lower in the summer so stuff gets pushed and pulled into ankle to thigh deep water especially the small gold, silver, and those with stones. We all rotate where we hunt as well as what part of the beaches we concentrate on based on a lot of conditions.

That sounds like a tough place to hunt! I got it easy! No bugs, heat, or people!
