RED GOOSE SHOES TOKEN??

This is is a token that has red goose shoes on it and on the back it has 50. I don't know if it means fifty cents or what. Any ideas?

1930's to WII. Given to kids with purchase of shoes. Various denominations: 10, 25, 50, etc. Redeemable for toys, sports equipment, etc. Later replaced by plastic tokens. There was also Red Goose paper "money."
