Red clays

Hello, folks. I am a new user who just bought my first Explorer XS. I will be using it in heavy red clay soils in North Georgia, mostly looking for relics along roads and tracks used from 1830s to 1890s and by old house sites. Any suggestions on what kind of setting would be most fruitful in looking deep through these heavy metal soils. Best wishes.

That type of soil is the only time that auto sens seemed to work better for me.. I would experiment a bit with different sens settings.. maybe of you get a soft reading target meess around with sens before digging to see what gives you the best response, try leaving it there and adjust on the next target as well.. if it seems to work best set at a certain spot leave it there.. other settings should really matter, gain and audio set where you like it and fast or deep depending on how much trash
