Recovery speed difference between the 1350 and GTI's?

Mick in Dubbo

New member
Just wondering how much faster recovery speed the GTP is over the GTI's with their respective standard coils attached?. I imagine that because the GTP doesn't have to run 2 receive coils, that would make a noticeable difference.
Thanks.
Mick Evans.

Hi Mick ,, I have just been playing around with both the 1350 and the 1500 the last few weeks,, and noticed that the 1350 with the standard coil seems to be a bit quicker ,, but once you put the DD coil on the 1500 seems much further in front,, but I guess that comes with the DD style,,and with the 4.5" coils the 1350 is alot better and the profiling seems to work quite well but with the 1500 the imaging only works on the 2 standard coils,, bit of a shame as the sizing feature is what I like about both the machines,, Have you managed to find a 1350 yet? give us a call or a PM

cheers Roger

G'day Roger.
Sorry I didn't get to ring you yesterday. I had something come up at the critical moment. I'll try and give you a buzz tomorrow arvo.
I often find myself looking at the 1350. A lot of folk think that there would be no advantage to owning it as opposed to the 1500, but with the new coils coming out, I think that it may just tilt things a little more the GTP's way. Although the profiling of the 1350 won't tell you the difference between a goldie and a screw cap, it can still be useful. I also like the fact that it will work with any coil. I'll get the new coil for the Ace first and see what happens.
At the moment; of all the detectors and coil combinations I've used, the GTI with the 5x10 coil on, is the best I've used for coin hunting. It's pretty easy to figure the higher denominations out. You are quite correct. It has a much faster recovery speed with the DD attached. The standard coil can't get near it.that said, I have also found that the imaging, is the best visual display feature that I've come across on a detector too. it's just a shame that it has such a poor recovery speed.
A little tip that I find that helps sort the $1 coins from screw caps with the imaging. When you pinpoint the target and it's shallower than 5 inches, lift the coil so the the depth meter reads 5 inches (or 6in). At this distance, the $1 coin nearly always locks into size B and screw caps nearly always show up as a size C! At shallower depth, you can't tell them apart. it was a real light bulb moment when I discovered that.
I'm going to behave myself for a little while and not rush out and get anther detector, till I've sold a couple off, but if I get the 1350, I'll buy it from the States. The local dealer is WAY overpriced! I've asked him to explain why, but haven't heard a satisfactory answer yet. It's a shame because I'd much prefer to buy from him than the States.
Mick Evans.

Yeah the GTI's are a bit slower due to the reason mentioned plus they have a lot more info to process and why I always advise that one scan slower with the GTI's as you can skip right over a target and not to get in a hurry and sloppy with pinpointing. Treat the GTI's right and they will reward you well.
