Recovery speed and target separation comparison?

El

Active member
Just wondering if anyone has done or knows of a comparison of the recovery speed and target separation of:

An F75 LTD and T2 LTD compared to the V3I and VX3 and these units compared to XP Deus.

Hear so much on the forums and was hoping someone had first hand information. Either did the testing or witnessed testing.

I asked the same question essentially, and brought up the Deus and V3i as well. (I have a V3i on order btw and am in Europe where iron is old and often thick.)

This last post (bfodness has a V3i) in the thread really says it all:

Im in Europe.

I use the 6x10 nearly all the time.

I have my recovery delay at 50 - 60...

Recovery delay isnt everything involved in a fast recoveryspeed. Lets take the XP goldmaxx power as an example. It is known to have a very fast recovery speed. The disc knob on the GMP stops at coke. You can only disc out iron and coke...

To obtain the best recoveryspeed possible You can not disc out all the iron and coke.

As with the MXT where the disc knob is best set at 1,7-1,9, not any higher.

Or the new goldbug where the iron split tone is best set at below 20 to obtain the best results for discoveryspeed.

On the V3 I get good recoveryspeed when i open up the disc window from - ( minus ) 30 with the same tone as all + ( plus ) numbers. It is not annoying at all cause there is not many trash items hitting solid there anyway. This setting helps the machine to see the low conductors better as the window from disced out and to the ID of a solid 12 for excample now is 42 and not 12 as it would have been with all iron disced out.

Its not a secret and most people using the XP use this kind of setting but do not realize why the machine gets a better recoveryspeed from it.

It is just that way with any machine.... Make the window bigger and your recoveryspeed will be faster without losing depth.

edit - Further I've seen some VERY experienced detectors on the V3i forum say that sometimes in iron they are NOT using the quickest recovery time. This seems to be able to work due to the V3i being able to pull out good targets at a slower sweep speed (I think the AT Pro is similar in iron - from reading about it that is.)

Lastly, do a search on the V3i forum regarding iron, filters, etc. to find more tidbits regarding this as it's quite a bit mixed in with other posts.

It might be worth noting the the V3i and VX3 both have fully adjustable recovery delay but what might be more useful in your case is that the V3i's discrimination can be set to accept all targets and you can set the audio tone to zero for the targets you do not want to hear. The VX3 does not have tone assignment.
