Recovery ~ Response ~Ace:garrett: ~ Xterra:minelab: ~ Tesoro:tesoro:

am interested to know from those who have used both the Ace & the X Terra , which one has the faster Target Response and Recovery speed of the two .

Now ya probly going to ask which X Terra 30 ~ 50 ~ 70 ? do they differ in there performance when it comes to Response and Recovery speed ?

Same goes for the Ace's the 150 & 250 are there any differences in the R & R speeds ?

I find the Ace 250 lacking well behind in recovery speed when pitted against any of my current Tesoro's { Eldorado Umax ~ Silver Umax ~ Tejon }

Same question for those who have used the Tesoro Umax or H.O.T detectors & the X Terra's what detector rules when it comes to R & R between these two ?

I noticed that I had to slow my Ace down when motion pinpointing as compared to my Silver. However, I don't know that the Ace is that far behind. The Ace will go deeper when the coil is sped up, but the Silver seems to keep the same depth at slow speeds.I have the best results at slower speeds w/both of them.

I have an ACE 250 - it was yellow when I bought it - now its a dust bunny on a pogo stick - it just sits and collects dust.
I bought it with the stock and 4.5 sniper coil for the wife. It sat in the box about a half year (she didn't try it) so I decided to try it. Wasn't for me as I didn't like the stupid bell tone audio. So it sat around just as a loaner for tag-along folks who don't have a detector. It did get used a few times but its been awhile. Most seem to want to use my F-75 or Explorer II - I guess something about the looks. Only had I think twice someone used the Cortes. None seem to go for any of my non-TID Tesoro's. I guess having a screen helps them for whatever reason. They don't understand how/why I like the non-TID Tesoro's - I get funny looks especially when I grab the Compadre or Silver or the older style Bandido II.
I'm not saying the ACE is a bad machine - actually 5 modes and a TID for a low cost - but I just prefer Tesoro. Never cared for yellow either:blink: so the dust cover is a-ok 2-me...

I like the color yellow but I do not like the Ace 250 at all, slow recovery speed,horrid sounds,inaccurate tid,just to name a few things I don't like about it. The Ace is a $200.00 machine and works and is built like a $200.00 machine. The Silver uMax is a $200.00 machien and works and is built like a $500.00 plus machine. I also had an Xterra 30 and didn't like it. I would take a Silver uMax over 10 Ace's & 10 Xterra's. I guess Tesoro has spoiled me with their wonderful detectors. Steve.

Hey, Ski! you kinda make me proud I've stuck w/mine so long. There's just something about it-the sounds, the tone, etc. that makes it hard to put down.

I have had a couple Silver uMax's over the years & loved them. Now I just got a Silver Sabre uMax, only got to use it a few times so far but I really like & enjoy it. I belong to another forum and post tons and tons of posts telling the folks especially the newbies how good the Silver uMax is. I have said it many many times as you just did - I say to them "there is just something about the Silver uMax, I can't put it into words you just got to try one". I know you know what I mean. For me I don't think that there is any other detector that I could enjoy more than a Silver uMax or the Silver Sabre uMax I now have. Thanks slingshot & you have every right to be proud. Steve.
