Recovery Fast on ? Or not?

I know the 3030 has a fast processor but when should we use fast on? It good in all situations or are we better with it off in certain situations? What are your thoughts or experiences with fast on or off?
Thanks

Seems like most everyone is going to tell you just about never...

If I recall it was supposed to help in the enhancement of a signals auditory response, however it also could clip the sound off so that you were not hearing as much information as you would if it was off... I don't claim to have done extensive testing with it on compared to off so I can't offer more insight.

The more trashy the environment, is where Fast On will shine. Say you have a park that is 100 years old that is still used today. There would be modern trash everywhere. I have several of those in my neck of the woods. That is where I turn The Fast On option on. Even though the 3030 does have a fast processor, Fast On will better isolate targets and not allow blending of two targets.

As far the E-trac goes I guess I'm one of the few that always has fast on in the parks I hit and it does effect the quality of the tones. In my opinion as long as I know what sound I'm listening for it really doesn't make a difference to me if it distorts the tone some. In my parks I need fast on because of all the trash and I move a a snails pace when i detect.

I've only had my CTX a few days and I was very pleased with the recovery speed and I haven't turned on fast yet and I'm pulling out oldies from spots I've pounded. I've been out twice cherry picking high deep tones and have two silver dimes, 11 wheats, I silver ring, a lot of deep copper memorials, and lots of deep clad.

I would say for now leave fast off until you learn the tones to listen for. Then I'd experiment with fast on.

Just my two cents worth :twodetecting:

I would turn Fast On in very iron infested areas. In my experience from searching some nail yards, it produces more finds than with it off. The 6" coil will help in those places too. Just work the coil slow and it will see what's in the ground.

Ditto I run fast on in high trash and high iron. normal yards and less trash deep on fast off. I have the CTX since day one and have ran it both ways and for me that works best. I think the key to this machine like most is slow swing speed especially when fast is off.
