Recommendations for a Florida coin shooter

Dig

Hey Forum peeps, I am a water hunter by trade, but, I have decided to try my hand at coin hunting again. I owned an Etrac briefly but had to sell it. I would like to find silver but from what I understand it is very difficult here in Fl (West Central), as the coins are very deep. You find a lot of modern clad but, since we have no ground freeze or frost to push the coins back up they seem to be a fairly rare find. So, I thought I would ask you pro coin shooters for an opinion on a good coin machine that's deep enough to hit these older coins. I look forward to your responses and thanks in advance for your help. Remember their DEEP

1270 i had was deep real deep

Dig give your Excall a try. Don't laugh they work very well out of the water and with the sandy soil it may suprise you. Then if you are not satisfied with the results or want a lighter coin machine then try a T-2SE with cache&boost modes for increased depth. That CZ might get down in that soil of yours. HH :minelab:

Dig.... i came home with at least 20 silvers when i was there hunting with Gil including a walker half. Its as much about location as it is about machine down there since most machines get pretty good depth in that sand. BUT.... if you are talking silver you just cant beat the MLs. They are the machine that others compare themselves to when it comes to finding silver. Etrac a great machine... but a used explorer is just as good. The SOV are good machines... no TID and you already have it with your Xcal.

Dig,

I live in Florida too. For great depth, I going to recommend three different machines that will hit on silver well:

Tesoro Silver uMax with the 12" coil. Probably the cheapest to set up of the three, but it's performance is remarkable.

Tesoro Tejon. This machine was made to go deep and its users swear by it.

Minelab Sovereign GT. At $1000, this is the most expensive of the three, but it has an incredible reputation for depth on dry land and is also one of the best beach detectors you will ever see (just don't get the control box wet). It also has a learning curve, but if you stick with it, you will benefit from the machine.

Hope my humble opinion helps. Good luck on your choice.

hey dig
i just used my excal while i was there, i found lots of stuff too,its all sand right?? no monies spent on a new detector, now yes etrac would do too,i just ordered one for all this clay stuff up here, but ill still use my excal when i come home down there...
