I know this is probably a question that I will get a biased answer on this board, but here goes. I had a Tesoro Eldorado for a couple of years, learned it well, thought it was nice and light and easy to use. My problem was that it was not a deep machine at all. I felt as though I was missing a lot of targets because of this and not due to user error. I subequently sold the Eldorado and am currently detectorless. I am thinking of getting back into metal detecting, but want to make a very educated choice on my next detector based on plenty of research. The MXT Pro keeps coming up in reading, but I wanted the end users to help me. I will be primarily hunting for old deep coins at homesites and relics (hopefully CW), some beach hunting and some coinshooting and jewelry hunting at parks. Is the MXT Pro significantly deeper than the Eldorado (if you have done a comparison) and would it suit my needs for years to come? Maybe give me some depths you have found silver dimes, quarters, buttons etc... if you haven't done comparisons on the two. Thanks!

My MXT with the 5.3 (6 1/2") and 6x10dd coils hit all my test coins. 7 1/2" nickel, 7 1/2" dime, 8" quarter, and 7" penny. I don't have any deeper coins to test. I haven't hat the MXT long enough to have found any coins deeper than those. The settings used were 1+ sensitivity, disc 3, relic mode with trigger forward. I like trigger forward so I don't have to hear the iron. I'm happy with the depth of the MXT. I like it better than the new gold detector thats out. I used a Sovereign for a few years and of deep targets I only found 2 Indian Heads at 11". I am interested in the 13" Ultimate coil. Probably good depth with it. I hear it separates good and is light.

I was just given a White's 6000 Di Pro SL Sunday. I used to have a 5900 and the sound over good targets is so so smooth. I know this is an MXT forum but these were nice detectors too. To bad White's quite making the XL Pro.

I have used the eldorado (and almost every other newer tesoro at one time or another) for a few years and now own the mxt pro with 9.5" coil. Expect up to a couple of more inches on your targets depending on your soil type. With the 300 coil expect even more. You can get the mxt pro with the 9.5" coil instead of the 300. Your local dealer will have the stocking number.
