Take a hard look at the Fisher F2 and or, Garrett's Ace 250. Both are excellent detectors for the money, about $200.00, US. Good luck with your decision. HH jim tn

I'd look for something with a ground balance not a preset one like the ace 250. With all the pottery and small iron pieces it can be real tough having a preset ground balance. (preset meaning it can not be adjusted to the location)

Also I recommend to look at UK dealers, it can make it easier when/if it comes to warranty etc.
To add to the price is you buy from the US would be shipping and costums, which might make it more expensive then buying in the UK.

Look also what you can find in the used range, often you can save some cash there.

My knowledge in that price range is very limited.

You might try lookign for a used Tesoro or Fisher, as they both have a large following in the UK. Something with ground balance, for sure.
