Got it when i got home from work today , been playing with it all evening , i've been air testing with different targets and so far i like the different tones and i think i am going to love the notch , i don't think it's going to be a very deep machine like the Tejon and Vaquero , but i didn't buy it for that purpose i bought it for schools and parks and i think (hope) it's going to be perfect for that , i can't wait for this weekend . :bouncy:

Look forward to your posts. How's the response to targets at fast sweep speeds? Have you tried worn out zincers and what's the sound on them-mixed? How low does the discriminate go-is it close to all-metal? I'm like you-I'm hooked on schools, etc. and believe that more is missed by too much discrimination and lack of coil overlap than depth. Thanks:nerd:

Dert, going by this post,

you'll be digging plenty deep ....

I find the Golden perfect for school yards and parks. On the other hand, if I was looking for relics in a farmers field, I would use the Tejon in all-metal. A different tool for a different job. As for the low end of the disc, at minimum you will get very low tones on iron. I have no idea what is missed between all-metal and min disc. Since I'm not looking for those types of objects with the Golden, I don't really care.

Zincs in varying levels of decay can sound different. One thing they have in common though is a smooth signal from different directions. I dig them, but I usually know it's a zinc before I start digging.

You made a fine choice with this machine.

On my Golden if I can usually tell if it is a Zinc penny by flipping the toggle to the right and if it disappears it is a zinc. However doing this also eliminates some pull tabs and possibly some gold rings.

I got to go out today and give it a try , so far so good , it is going to take some getting use to but I think I'm going to like it , I was having a little trouble notching out sqaure pull tabs though , any one have any suggestions on this ? :)
