Rechargable batteries question

New member
My detector uses 8 AA. I'm using Nimh now and I wired a jack to the battery pack to connect a telephone type 2 transformer 9VDC, 300ma to charge all the batteries at once without removing them from the battery pack. Seems to be working OK. Any one see any problems here.

I am not a expert, but feel you may need a bigger charger voltage wise as my Explorer which uses 8 of the recharge ables for 9.6 volts uses a charger around 12 volts as the charger has to be a little more voltage than the battery pack is. Myself I would take them out to recharge unless you have a way to disconnect the battery from the charger so you don't fry one of the circuits.

Had the same setup on my Musketeer, worked fine, the phone transformers, put out around 11.5 volts, even tho marked around 9 v, i just left it plugged in all the time except when using, never overcharged, when checked the batteries, unless run down they allways had around 11 v in them, it works fine, and is very reasonable, the transformers at the goodwill store are around 50 cents, or can find them in a junk pile for free, all the detectors i had that used 8 AA bnatteries worked fine till down around 6 or 7 volts, and that's a lotta beepin, yep it works :detecting::usmc::thumbup::usaflag:
