Those are some very respectable finds. Well done!

Gotta love those Tesoros!

Yep Yep! If your discriminating foil, you not going to find the gold. I run the disc. right at foil, or just a hair below, and sens. on a 7/8.
Wow!! That high? I run mine at min. disc.

The "O" in foil is a good spot to be for me if I want not to miss any gold.

Dig, unless the signal is to big or doesn't go away quickly when you pick up the coil.

I can air test a 0.4 gram gold nugget at about 2 inches set at disc. "O" in foil.

Can get almost 3 inches on it in all metal.

Go for the gold!!

Great finds.

Good Hunting

i run my sens up as far as I can ,,, with a few of my coils I can go to max,,, is there ANY reason not do this as far as how it effects the machine ??? LOVE MY SILVER

"is there ANY reason not do this"

I can't think of any.

Been swinging a Silver uMax for about 3 years now and I almost always run it at a sen. of 9+.

Very rarely do I ever back off to 8.

No negative effects for me in my mild ground.

I try to run it at 10 when I can, just back off a little if it chatters.

Good Hunting

Anything more & you will miss thin rings past a few inches. In tough soil it can be the diffrence between being able to even get a nickle at depth.

I like to use all metal to hunt & switch back to disc in open fast searching.

In crowded areas or when there deep iron objects dominating the signal but you suspect shallow targets-turn the sensetivity down by all means. It will enable the detector to see more clearly with less feedback. like high beams in the fog more is not always better.

In example I was working an old oak tree & knew there was a pipe or something large iron under a large area I wanted to hunt. I turned the sensitivity down to 2 or 3(where the iron signall was not evident) & was able to pick up a few coins including a gorgeous merc.

Cheers!

Dark Flight,

"I run my disc between Min & Iron..."
"I like to use all metal to hunt & switch back to disc in open fast searching."

You are right, the less disc. the better.
You can always make your decision to dig after you find the target by playing with the disc. knob
and using your audio response, Tesoro shake, sizing and raising your coil.

Depending on ground conditions to be clearer than I was in one of the above posts.
I always try to hunt in all metal like you, switching back and forth to disc. up to the "O" in foil.

I find that I can add an inch or more in depth by using AM even compared to min. disc.

Grouser, Dark flight is correct again about lowering sen. in the conditions he describes.
Guess I wasn't thinking hard enough!

Good Hunting
