Howdy--
I thought that I'd post some of my better finds for my last 2 hunts. On the first hunt I revisited a vacant lot that I had been hunting for a few years. At the corner of this large lot there were 2 dilapidated wooden buildings. One of them had recently burned down to the foundation. I was pleased to see that the debris had finally been cleared and some of the dirt had been scraped. New ground! I hunted that area for a couple of hours and my first signal was the 1958-D Washington Quarter. It was less than an inch deep in the newly exposed soil. I worked a pattern on the new soil and picked up a few wheat-cents, clad and scrap copper and brass. Near where the old driveway was I dug the sterling buckle and tip. Possibly my favorite find at that sight is the small octagonal token. It's a "Good for 5C" type from the Turf Recreation Club of Odessa, Texas. I was using the V3i with the 4X6 coil.
The second hunt was at a vacant, boarded up house that I discovered. Since it was in an older neighborhood, I gave it a try. I'm glad that I did. The front yard yielded several memorials, clad dimes and quarters. I also dug 12 wheat-cents the oldest a 1937-D. It's been a while since I have dug a merc. So I was really happy to get 2 - a 1943-S and a 1944 plain. The 1956-D Roosevelt was just icing on the cake. Have a great Thanksgiving and...
