I have had lots of fun hunting in the cooler weather lately. My buddy and I researched an old homestead and trading post site that dates back to 1816 and was close by in the woods. We spent some time there trying to find some treasures, but there was a lot of old trash. We found so much copper junk and cast brass that sounded like good finds. I ended up pulling some relics and an 1890 "V" nickel, and an Indian and Merc on the way back to the car. I found the middle section to a sterling silver pocket watch, but sadly not the case. I also pulled a sterling spoon tip, missing the handle. Later, I hit two parks; 1 with friends and 1 solo. Pulled some more silver and a few relics. Both parks have been well-pounded by detectorists over the years, and I have personally hit both with an E-Trac. The CTX really excells where even the E-Trac failed to find them all. Like others have said, it does not go deeper, but separates better and has a faster response. I hope to get out and hit the ground some more before the cold weather hits. Please enjoy the photos and video.
I also did a strictly-relic hunt at a Civil War site with the CTX and the 13x17 coil. I will post that in the CW forum on Findmall.
