Recent finds with the 70

B.T

New member
Heres some recent finds I finally took some pics of.
The palce had for some reason been neglected, good for me, but recently I have seen some blokes detecting there pretty full on. I reckon I was lucky enough to beat them to it by about 1 week.
Coil used was 18.75khz elipt DD. For the gold tracking with sens ranging from 20 to 30, super slow sweep.
For the relics I used fixed ground bal, sens 18.
The lamp was inside a shaft which I walked away from 2 or 3 times as my golden rule is never go into 100+ year old shafts, I did though as I couldnt resist it.
What a great place, now I have to wait for a new clutch to be put into the transporter till I get back.

Pitty there wasnt a big lump of the yellow stuff in the tunnel too mate......oh well nice pic's B.T. The lamp is very nice btw!
Cheers!

Hi B.T.

Excellent finds in the triangle it just shows its still their.BTW do you know Maurice Cappolli in VIC. just wondering if he is still prospecting i did some swinging with him here in the west about 10 years ago when we had the 17000. You know my other mate Don P. from
TARNAGULLA.

Regards Pinpointa Down Under In Oz.

Like to know how they get the Gold out of the rock without messing it up. Do they crush it, melt it,do they chip it out. How do they seperate the gold from the rock. Seems a shame to mess the pretty gold up by smashing the rock. Anyway just wondering. :D: :D: Thanks in advance, HH Jerry aka Tinfoil .

wow awesome finds, did you find the gold specie's in the old mining dump piles there or was it broken off a reef?

I am so impressed with the size of your nuggets, I cant wait to see what the new DD coil can do on your sites.

Aussies often put the "speci" in the "dolly-pot", morter and pestle to others...pulverize and reclaim the gold. Others leave the specimen as found and sell it....sometimes specimens are enhanced to reveal more gold than rock...hope this clears it up some...for much more info there are many very fine gold hunting/prospecting websites.

Thanks guys, ill try to remember all the questions.
The gold came from around some reef dumps but some was from very close by virgin ground.
I try to leave species as species as I hate to see them smashed up.
Some I will give a slight tap here and there to reveal the gold a bit better but otherwise I leave them in the quartz.
Yeah Pinpoita I know Don, hes a great bloke but I have not run into him since I returned from QLD. I have never personally met Maurice though.
Nugget, I was crapping myself just going in for the lamp and was glad to get out, I dont think I even drew a breath until I did.
Most people will smash up species to get them out of the quartz, either in a dolly pot, some use acid which is a thing I steer clear of like the plague as I have seen and heard of some real horror stories using it. There must be squillions of great species that never get to be seen as companies mine reefs and other loads and just put it all through the crushers. I heard of a 500oz plus bit that a mine worker reckoned the boss couldnt have cared less about and destroyed it just for the gold.
Surely even a 1 gram bit in quartz is better as a keeper than just a 1g on its own!
Yeah im hanging for that little coil too to go back over a few spots to see what it can do. They say patience is a virtue, im still waiting for mine to arrive. Patience that is.

G,day Mike. After cleaning the lamp there was english and german writing on it. The German read "FUERE HAND" though I might have just spelt the first word wrong and another was "FROWO"? Im guessing as the picture was of a hand holding fire that the first one is "FIRE HAND".
Maybe the "FROWO" means that after holding the fire in your hand you "FROWO IT AS FAR AS POSSIBLE"
